Uncle killed with sickle trying to stop father-son fight in Paba
An uncle was killed and a father and son were injured during a violent family dispute in Rajshahi's Paba upazila. The altercation began after the son lit a cigarette in front of his father.
A tragic family dispute turned deadly in Rajshahi district when an uncle was killed while attempting to intervene in a violent altercation between a father and his son. The incident took place during the morning hours on August 27 at Dadpur Bagichapara village, located within the Bargachhi union of Paba upazila.
According to the verified details of the incident, the confrontation began at approximately 7:30 AM over a domestic disagreement. The argument started between Abu Bakar Siddique and his son, Alfaz, after Alfaz lit a cigarette in front of his father. The verbal disagreement quickly escalated into physical pushing and shoving between the two family members.
Witnesses and family members present at the scene attempted to manage the escalating situation. A relative named Aktar recounted the moments leading up to the tragedy, stating, "I told them to stop their quarrel and go home. When the fighting started again later, Uncle Idris rushed forward to stop it. It was then that he fell to the ground after being struck by a sickle."
During the chaotic brawl, as uncle Idris Ali stepped in to separate the fighting relatives, he was struck by a sharp agricultural sickle that Alfaz was holding. The blow proved fatal, and the violent exchange also left both the father, Abu Bakar Siddique, and the son, Alfaz, injured from the altercation.
Following the bloody confrontation, the injured individuals were swiftly rushed for emergency medical treatment to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. However, upon their arrival at the medical facility, the attending physician on duty pronounced Idris Ali dead at approximately 8:30 AM.
Local authorities from the Paba police station have been dealing with the aftermath of the violence. Investigations into the domestic killing are ongoing, and official records further revealed that the suspect, Alfaz, had only recently returned home after securing bail from prison on Sunday, August 23, in connection with a women and children repression case.
