Rajshahi Officials Inspect Fertilizer Market, Announce Ample Stock
High-level administrative officials inspected fertilizer distribution centers in Rajshahi on Wednesday afternoon. Authorities confirmed a substantial reserve of urea fertilizer and vowed strict legal action against artificial crises.
In an effort to monitor the agricultural supply chain and ensure fair distribution, top-tier administrative officials conducted a comprehensive inspection of the fertilizer market in Rajshahi on Wednesday afternoon, August 26, 2026. The inspection delegation included key figures such as Kazi Shahidul Islam, Md. Yusuf Ali, Mostafa Kamal Hossain, Md. Ibnul Abedin, and M.A. Mannan. During their field visit, the high-level officials thoroughly examined several local distribution hubs, specifically targeting key wholesale and retail sales centers located in the Chouddapai and Katakhali areas.
During the official market oversight, the visiting administration members closely scrutinized the inventory records and physical storage conditions at prominent local establishments, including Messrs. Moslem Molla Traders and Messrs. Nahar Enterprise. Officials from the Department of Agricultural Extension were also involved in assessing the current market dynamics to ensure that local farming communities have uninterrupted access to essential agricultural inputs during the active crop season.
Addressing local traders, market monitors, and media representatives during the inspection tour, Kazi Shahidul Islam firmly declared that there is currently no shortage of fertilizers within the Rajshahi region. Highlighting the robust status of local agricultural supplies, the official formally announced that the current warehouses in Rajshahi hold a verified and sufficient reserve totaling 2,469 metric tons of urea fertilizer ready for distribution to farmers.
Despite the comfortable reserve levels, the inspection team uncovered instances of commercial irregularities and illicit trade practices during their visit to the distribution centers. Consequently, administrative measures were swiftly enacted against the violating entities, resulting in a collective financial penalty of 300,000 taka imposed for proven offenses, alongside the official recovery of 1,293 sacks of fertilizer.
Concluding the inspection operations, Kazi Shahidul Islam issued a stern and uncompromising warning to all market actors operating within the region. The official explicitly stated that if any individual or business entity attempts to create an artificial shortage, engage in illegal stockpiling, or participate in black-market activities regarding fertilizer distribution, the administration will enforce rigorous and uncompromising legal action against them.
