Rajshahi Authorities Confirm Ample Urea Fertilizer Stock

RAJSHAHI, BANGLADESH — The district administration of Rajshahi has officially confirmed that there is an adequate and secure stock of urea fertilizer available within the region, moving firmly to reassure local agricultural communities and deter any attempts to manufacture artificial shortages. During an official meeting of the district fertilizer and seed monitoring committee held on 26 August 2026, key administrative and agricultural officials detailed the current inventory levels to ensure transparency across the supply chain. The comprehensive briefing emphasized that current agricultural operations, particularly the ongoing cultivation of Aman rice, remain fully supported by the existing agricultural inputs managed through authorized distribution channels.

According to the verified data presented at the monitoring committee meeting, Rajshahi currently holds a substantial total of 2,469 metric tons of urea fertilizer in stock, which translates to approximately 49,380 bags readily available for distribution. Kazi Shahidul Islam addressed the gathering, stating that the district possesses sufficient urea fertilizer stock for the current month of August. He further noted that these essential supplies are actively being distributed to local farmers through designated, authorized dealers. To fully address the growing demands of the agricultural community, Kazi Shahidul Islam confirmed that an official letter has already been dispatched to the relevant ministry requesting an additional allocation of supplementary fertilizer.

Addressing potential concerns regarding upcoming supply continuity, Kazi Shahidul Islam provided assurances that the distribution pipeline for the next month is already secured. He announced that starting tomorrow, authorized dealers will be fully permitted to collect their designated September allocations of fertilizer. Because these allocations have already been formally issued in favor of the dealers, Kazi Shahidul Islam stressed that there is absolutely no reason for any concern or apprehension regarding the ongoing supply and availability of fertilizer throughout the district.

Alongside the positive inventory reports, the administration highlighted significant progress in the agricultural sector, noting that approximately 90 percent of the planned Aman rice planting has already been successfully completed across Rajshahi. This extensive planting progress underscores the critical timing and high demand for uninterrupted fertilizer supplies during the current seasonal cycle. The robust planting statistics reflect the dedication of local farmers, whose work depends heavily on the consistent and fair distribution of agricultural inputs managed by the regional monitoring committees and agricultural departments.

To protect farmers and maintain market stability, strict enforcement measures have been deployed across the district to crack down on commercial irregularities and hoarding. Operating through coordinated efforts, mobile courts and dedicated vigilance teams successfully recovered 1,293 sacks of fertilizer that were unlawfully manipulated or stored. Furthermore, these enforcement operations successfully collected 300,000 taka in fines from various establishments and entities found to be violating distribution regulations. Officials participating in these monitoring and enforcement efforts included Mo. Yusuf Ali, Mostafa Kamal Hossain, Mo. Ibnul Abedin, and MA Mannan, alongside representatives from the Department of Agricultural Extension in Rajshahi and local businesses such as Messers Moslem Molla and Messers Nahar Enterprise.
