Trimohoni River in Ullapara Freed From Illegal Lease Following Undertaking

The roughly 2.5-kilometer section of the Trimohoni River in Ullapara, Sirajganj, has been officially freed from illegal leasing following a formal intervention by the local administration. The water body had previously been subjected to unauthorized leasing practices, restricting public and professional access to the natural resource.

In response to the situation, the accused lessee, Afzal Haji, appeared before the local authorities. He submitted a formal written undertaking to the Upazila administration, explicitly promising that he will never engage in such unauthorized leasing and occupancy activities in the future.

As a direct result of this administrative action and the subsequent written undertaking, the situation surrounding the water body has significantly changed for the local community. Fishermen in the surrounding area who depend on the river for their livelihoods can now access the waterway freely.

Following the removal of the illegal lease restrictions, local fishermen are currently able to catch fish in the Trimohoni River completely free of charge. This development restores traditional fishing rights to the community along the approximately 2.5-kilometer stretch of the river.

The successful resolution in Ullapara highlights ongoing administrative efforts to protect local water bodies and natural resources from unauthorized commercial control. The intervention ensures that public rivers remain accessible to those who depend on them for their daily sustenance and traditional economic activities.
