Tribunal Takes Cognizance of Crimes Against Humanity Charges

International Crimes Tribunal-2, located in Dhaka, has officially taken cognizance of charges involving crimes against humanity brought against former Home Secretary Jahangir Alam and former Joint Secretary Dhananjay Kumar Das. The development marks a significant legal step in the ongoing proceedings handled by the tribunal regarding accountability for alleged atrocities.

During the court session held on August 27, the judicial proceedings specifically addressed the formal accusations leveled against the two former high-ranking government officials. The tribunal reviewed the submitted case details and formally accepted the charges for further judicial evaluation and trial procedures.

In connection with the case and the newly accepted formal charges, International Crimes Tribunal-2 issued an arrest warrant specifically targeting former Joint Secretary Dhananjay Kumar Das. The warrant orders relevant authorities to apprehend him so that he can be brought before the judicial authority to face the pending allegations.

Meanwhile, during the course of the hearing, former Home Secretary Jahangir Alam was physically produced before the court. He was brought directly from jail under security to attend the tribunal session where the formal charges against him and his co-accused were taken into cognizance.

The case before International Crimes Tribunal-2 continues to move forward as the court oversees the legal steps involving the accused former government bureaucrats.
