Tragedy Strikes 45th BCS As Recommended Candidates Die Amid Gazette Delays

The 45th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examinations have been cast into deep sorrow following the tragic death of Mir Tanvir Ahmed, a candidate who had been officially recommended for the agriculture cadre. According to verified reports, Mir Tanvir Ahmed tragically lost his life on August 18, 2026, after being struck by a train in the Nilphamari district of Bangladesh.
This heartbreaking incident follows the earlier death of Mumtahina Mimu, another promising candidate who had been recommended for the livestock cadre. Mumtahina Mimu passed away on July 17, 2026, after losing her battle with cancer, highlighting the devastating human cost borne by applicants facing prolonged waiting periods.
The untimely deaths occur amid mounting frustration over the administration of the recruitment process. Despite the final results of the 45th BCS being published, a full nine months have elapsed without the government issuing the crucial appointment gazette notification, leaving successful candidates in a state of indefinite limbo regarding their professional futures.
Administrative hurdles and procedural delays have severely hampered the finalization of the recruitment process. While one intelligence agency submitted its necessary verification report to the ministry in July, authorities subsequently made the controversial decision to subject the already successful candidates to a secondary round of verification by a different intelligence agency.
Addressing the ongoing delays and the pressure surrounding the administrative timeline, Abdul Bari noted that the government has been actively working with a specific target in mind. According to the official, the administration has been aiming to conclude all remaining verification procedures and publish the final gazette notification by the month of August.
