Tourist dead, another missing after entering Cox's Bazar sea
A 25-year-old tourist died and his cousin went missing after descending into the sea at Cox's Bazar beach. The tragic incident occurred on August 26 during a group tour from Dhaka.
A tragic incident unfolded at the Cox's Bazar sea beach on August 26, resulting in the death of one tourist and leaving another missing after they went down to bathe in the sea. The unfortunate event took place around 2:00 PM in the coastal area situated between the Sugandha and Laboni points of the popular beach destination.
The deceased tourist has been identified as 25-year-old Yasin Khan, while his cousin, 27-year-old Ibrahim Khan, remains unaccounted for following the incident. Both men hailed from the Kuril Chourasta matha area of the capital city, Dhaka, and were part of a larger travel group comprising 110 members who had journeyed to the coastal district.
According to details provided by Abdus Shukkur of the C-Safe Life Guard, the specific area where the two cousins entered the water was not manned by their personnel at the time. Upon receiving urgent information about the unfolding emergency, life guard teams rushed to the scene to conduct a search and rescue operation.
During the rescue efforts, the life guards managed to pull one of the victims from the water and immediately transported him to the Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital. However, upon arrival at the medical facility, the attending physician officially declared him dead.
Meanwhile, rescue operations and search efforts continued for the other cousin, Ibrahim Khan, who remained missing. The incident has drawn attention from local authorities, including the Cox's Bazar District Administration and the Beach Management Committee, as they monitor the situation regarding the safety of visitors along the expansive coastline.
