Three Arrested After 3.8 Million Taka Snatched from Gold Trader in Dhaka

Law enforcement authorities in the capital have successfully apprehended three individuals in connection with the armed robbery of a prominent gold trader in Dhaka. The incident, which unfolded on the 1st of September, 2026, targeted gold trader Khorshed Alam while he was traversing the 12th road located in the busy Dhanmondi neighborhood of Dhaka.

According to the verified official reports from the local police administration, the perpetrators made off with a staggering sum of 3,800,000 Taka that rightfully belonged to the victimized gold trader. Investigators determined that the criminal operation was executed by an organized gang consisting of approximately eight to ten active members who ambushed the trader in the area.

Swift investigative actions led by the authorities resulted in the identification and subsequent capture of three primary suspects linked to the brazen daylight heist. The arrested individuals have been formally identified as Tanvir Abedin alias Jui, Mujibur Rahman, and Zakir Hossain alias Captain Zakir, who are now facing severe legal consequences for their alleged involvement in the violent robbery.

During the course of the targeted police operations leading to their capture, law enforcement officers recovered crucial incriminating evidence from the suspects' possession. This seized material notably included a functioning revolver alongside four rounds of live ammunition, which investigators believe were utilized to threaten and subdue the victim during the execution of the crime.

Following their apprehension, the three detained suspects were handed over to the formal judicial system as the authorities pressed serious charges against them. Specifically, two separate criminal cases under the provisions concerning robbery and illegal arms possession have been officially filed against the trio at the Dhanmondi Police Station, ensuring that the legal proceedings will move forward comprehensively.
