State Minister Ali Nawaz Mahmud Khayyam Inspects Zia Memorial Museum

State Minister for Cultural Affairs Ali Nawaz Mahmud Khayyam has carried out an official visit to the historic Zia Memorial Museum located in Chattogram. During his tour of the landmark institution, the State Minister closely inspected the premises and evaluated the current physical condition of the heritage property, which holds significant historical and archaeological value for the region.

Addressing the preservation of the site, State Minister Ali Nawaz Mahmud Khayyam stated that the Zia Memorial Museum is an extremely old and traditional building. Taking its archaeological and historical importance into consideration, the authorities are undertaking initiatives to preserve and reconstruct the building while strictly maintaining its original structure and architectural style without any alterations.

Elaborating further on the restoration approach, the State Minister emphasized that this location is not merely a building, but rather an essential and vital part of the nation's heritage. Consequently, he noted that the facility will not undergo ordinary or conventional repairs, reiterating that its fundamental structure and traditional characteristics will be meticulously safeguarded during the reconstruction process.

In addition to inspecting the museum, the State Minister traveled to the Chattogram Circuit House to participate in a divisional exchange meeting organized specifically in observance of the ongoing Nazrul Year. This gathering brought together various notable figures, including Dr. Md. Ziauddin, Dr. Sukomal Barua, Abu Sufian, Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah, Abdul Quddus Chowdhury, and Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali, alongside representatives from organizations such as the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP).

While speaking at the divisional exchange meeting, the State Minister highlighted the broader role of the arts and heritage in society. He remarked that culture facilitates the psychological development of human beings, stressing the absolute necessity of engaging the younger generation in cultural practices to successfully build a knowledgeable, humane, and healthy society.

Furthermore, as part of the nationwide initiatives marking the Nazrul Year, the government is currently arranging diverse cultural competitions. These events are designed to witness the active participation of students coming from primary schools, technical institutions, and secondary schools across the country.
