Shahjalal Airport Third Terminal Targets December 16 Soft Opening
The government remains firm on scheduling the soft opening of the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport's third terminal for December 16. However, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M. Rashiduzzaman Millat noted the timeline could adjust if needed to ensure quality.

The government of Bangladesh has maintained its firm target to conduct the much-anticipated soft opening of the third terminal at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on December 16. This significant infrastructure development has drawn substantial attention regarding its operational readiness and adherence to strict implementation schedules.
During a recent briefing held at the Secretariat in Dhaka on Sunday, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M. Rashiduzzaman Millat addressed journalists regarding the progress of the project. He emphasized that while the administration remains steadfast in its original plan, quality assurance is paramount for the aviation authorities.
Addressing the potential for scheduling adjustments, Minister M. Rashiduzzaman Millat stated that if ensuring the highest standard of work requires additional time, the deadline could realistically be extended by one or two months. Despite this logistical flexibility, he reiterated the government's primary stance, stating, 'However, the government is still sticking to the plan of a soft opening on December 16,' and further reinforcing this position by saying, 'But still we will do the soft opening on December 16, we are still sticking to this.'
In addition to the overarching opening timeline, upcoming milestones for the project involve key international contracting phases. Japanese representatives are scheduled to officially submit their bids on the 25th of the month, marking another crucial step forward.
Following the submission and subsequent evaluation of these bids by the relevant authorities, officials anticipate that the formal contract signing will be successfully completed by September. These ongoing administrative developments are designed to keep the comprehensive project moving steadily toward its targeted completion goals.
