In a significant development for regional security, the rulers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan have officially signed a tripartite military agreement. The historic signing ceremony took place on August 9, 2025, in the holy city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia, bringing together the leadership of the three nations for this major strategic pact.
According to the confirmed details of the accord, the agreement includes a collective defense provision stating that if any of the participating member nations is attacked, it will be considered an attack on all three countries. This mutual defense mechanism is directly comparable to the collective security framework outlined in Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
The newly forged alliance follows a previous military pact established between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan in September of the previous year. The continuing deepening of military and strategic ties between Islamabad and Riyadh has now expanded to include Ankara under the umbrella of this comprehensive Mecca agreement.
Amidst the diplomatic developments surrounding the summit, the agreement is reportedly designed with future expansion in mind. Addressing the nature of the partnership, the Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan explicitly stated that this security pact remains open to other nations as well.

According to reports from news agencies including Reuters, ANI, and the Jerusalem Post, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu made a telephone call to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi immediately before the military agreement was signed in Mecca.
