A freshers' reception and career guideline programme organized by the Rajshahi University branch of Chhatra Shibir has sparked significant criticism and controversy. The event took place on Saturday, September 12, at the university's Kazi Nazrul Islam Auditorium, where newly admitted students were welcomed by the organization.

During the programme, organizers distributed copies of the book 'Mon Take Kaj Din', written by Ghulam Azam, to the attendees as gifts. This action quickly drew sharp rebukes from various student bodies on campus, leading to a heated debate regarding the ideological implications of the literature distributed at a university-level student gathering.

Voicing strong opposition to the distribution, Fuad Ratul remarked, "For the past few years, a process has been underway to normalize the war criminals of 1971." His statement highlighted broader concerns among progressive student groups about the resurgence and mainstreaming of figures associated with the events of the Bangladesh Liberation War.

Echoing these sentiments, Wajid Shishir Abhi stated, "There is no scope to view the distribution of Ghulam Azam's books simply as a book gift." The criticism underscores the sensitivity surrounding political and historical figures in academic spaces, particularly concerning student wing activities at public universities.

In response to the mounting criticism, Mujahid Faisal addressed the situation regarding the controversy. He stated that if criticism arises over the matter, they will provide an explanation, adding that they do not see any necessity to speak on the issue until a formal debate is created.
