The Election Commission has announced that all comprehensive preparations have been successfully completed to ensure the upcoming electoral process proceeds both smoothly and orderly. According to the confirmed schedule, the voting will take place at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
The polling window is officially scheduled for August 20, running from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM in the afternoon. A total of 349 members of parliament are eligible to participate and cast their ballots in this crucial national election. The final electoral race features two prominent political figures as candidates: Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Oli Ahmed.
Official confirmation regarding the final candidate lineup came after the deadline for the withdrawal of candidacies passed. Election authorities reported that on the designated final day for withdrawal, absolutely no candidate chose to pull back their nomination, thereby cementing the two-man race for the presidency. Election officials have also finalized the physical voting materials, confirming that the ballots will feature black print on white paper and will be transported directly for the election.
To guarantee a transparent and efficient process, the Election Commission has officially appointed 20 dedicated election officials to manage operations on the ground. Akhtar Ahmed highlighted the administrative readiness by stating that these 20 electoral officials have been specifically assigned by the commission to ensure the election is conducted smoothly and in an orderly fashion. Ahmed further noted the logistics surrounding the documentation, stating that they will print the ballot papers and take them on the designated day.
Furthermore, election authorities have committed to releasing the election results with maximum efficiency immediately following the conclusion of the polling period. Ahmed emphasized that right after voting concludes, the preliminary results will be officially announced on the spot, urging observers to see how quickly the commission can publish the outcomes. This historic election represents a significant milestone, reviving a parliamentary voting tradition that has remained dormant since 1991.
