Power Grid Bangladesh PLC Releases Regional Load-Shedding Data

Power Grid Bangladesh PLC, also known as PGCB, officially released comprehensive data regarding electricity supply and regional load-shedding across Bangladesh. The nationwide operational update, made public on Wednesday night, provides a detailed breakdown of power generation demands and subsequent deficits experienced by various administrative zones.

According to the published figures, the Mymensingh zone suffered the most severe power shortages and highest levels of load-shedding in the country. During this period, the Mymensingh zone recorded a staggering electricity demand of 1,421 megawatts, which was met with a maximum load-shedding allocation of 256 megawatts to manage the deficit.

In contrast, other major regions reported varying but generally lower disruptions to their power supply networks. The capital's Dhaka region registered a substantial electricity demand totaling 6,184 megawatts, during which authorities implemented 154 megawatts of load-shedding to balance the grid load.

Meanwhile, the Comilla zone experienced a power shortfall requiring 50 megawatts of load-shedding against a total demand of 1,455 megawatts. Similarly, the Khulna zone faced a demand of 1,924 megawatts alongside 49 megawatts of load-shedding, while the Rajshahi zone recorded a demand of 1,533 megawatts with a minimal load-shedding requirement of 20 megawatts.

The operational update also highlighted several regions that maintained stable electricity supplies without any power cuts. Power Grid Bangladesh PLC confirmed that during peak hours, the Chittagong, Sylhet, Barisal, and Rangpur zones did not require any form of load-shedding, successfully meeting their respective demands of 1,512 megawatts, 668 megawatts, 481 megawatts, and 1,033 megawatts.
