Police Detain 15 in Kishoreganj Gambling Den Raid
Hossainpur police raided an illegal gambling operation in Kishoreganj District on Monday evening. Fifteen individuals, including a local Sramik Dal leader, were taken into custody.
Law enforcement authorities in Bangladesh conducted a targeted operation on Monday evening, September 7, 2026, targeting an illicit gambling establishment located in the Kishoreganj District. The raid took place in the Saheberchar Bander Par area, situated within Sidhla Union under Hossainpur Upazila, specifically focusing on a location positioned directly behind the local sand quarry.
During the course of the evening operation, officers attached to the Hossainpur Police Station successfully apprehended a total of fifteen individuals who were allegedly involved in the gambling activities. Among those detained by law enforcement was Paয়েল আহমেদ, who serves as the general secretary of the Sidhla Union branch of the Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal.
The group of fifteen people taken into custody during the raid comprises individuals originating from multiple administrative regions, specifically spanning Kishoreganj, Mymensingh, and Gazipur districts. Their identities were recorded by authorities as the investigation into the operation of the gambling den continued at the local police station.
Following the conclusion of the raid, official confirmation regarding the arrests was provided by Muhammad Rashedul Islam, who holds the position of Officer-in-Charge (OC) at the Hossainpur Police Station. The police official stated that formal legal proceedings and actions are currently underway against all fifteen of the detained individuals.
