Plaintiff Stabbed Outside Chattogram Courtroom Over Extortion Dispute
A plaintiff was stabbed outside a Chattogram courtroom following prior extortion demands and multiple legal cases. Police have recovered CCTV footage and launched an investigation to apprehend the suspects.

On September 6, 2025, a violent incident unfolded outside the courtroom of the Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Court-3, where a plaintiff named Nurul Kabir was targeted and stabbed. The assault occurred in broad daylight just outside the judicial chamber, sparking immediate concern regarding security within the court premises.
Following the attack, law enforcement personnel promptly intervened and transported the injured plaintiff to the Chattogram Medical College (CMC) Hospital. According to official statements, Nurul Kabir is currently undergoing medical treatment at the facility for the injuries sustained during the courtroom stabbing incident.
The victim's wife, Runa Akter Rupa, provided critical context regarding the underlying feud, stating that her husband is a businessman who operates dish and WiFi services. She detailed a prior incident on June 1, where her husband was allegedly abducted by a group led by former Jubo league leader Zainal Abedin Sohel and Elias Hossain Opu after failing to pay extortion money. According to her testimony, he was detained at Sohel's rickshaw garage, beaten, and subjected to a demand for 500,000 taka within two days, while cash and a mobile phone were also stolen from him.
Runa Akter Rupa further explained that Sunday was scheduled as a court appearance day for their legal proceedings. She recounted that during this court visit, the accused individuals in the case—specifically identifying Elias Hossain Opu, Zainal Abedin Sohel, Emran Hossain, Anwar, and several others—attacked and stabbed her husband. She noted that the assailants fled the scene upon hearing her husband's screams, after which police transported him to the hospital.
Detailing the legal fallout, Runa Akter Rupa and her husband Nurul Kabir have already filed three separate cases with the Panchlaish Police Station, pressing charges that include extortion, looting, assault, and stabbing. Meanwhile, official confirmation of the courtroom attack was provided by Rajib Kanti Dey, who noted that the accused in a pending case stabbed the plaintiff before police rescued the victim and admitted him to CMC Hospital for ongoing treatment.
In terms of the ongoing investigation, officer Abul Kalam Azad stated that he was away on training during the incident, but subsequent review of closed-circuit television footage revealed a man named Nurul Kabir being stabbed from behind. Police have successfully recovered the CCTV footage and confirmed that operations are underway to arrest those involved. Additionally, Abu Zayed Md. Najmun Nur confirmed that authorities heard about the plaintiff being stabbed and the suspects fleeing, noting that while police inspected the scene and recovered footage, no formal complaint had been filed at the station by the time of the report, though perpetrators will be identified and arrested.
