Mobile financial service provider Nagad recently organised an awareness workshop focusing on anti-money laundering for its distributors from Dhaka North and South. The event was held at the Sheraton Hotel in Dhaka on September 15.

Mobile financial service provider Nagad has taken a significant step toward financial compliance by organising a dedicated awareness workshop focused on preventing money laundering. The event specifically targeted the company's distributors operating across the Dhaka North and Dhaka South regions, bringing together key industry figures and regulatory experts to discuss crucial financial security measures.
The important awareness-raising event took place on September 15 at the prestigious Sheraton Hotel located in the capital city of Dhaka. Attendees included notable individuals such as Md. Motasim Billah, Kamrul Hasan Azad, Muhammad Anisur Rahman Bhuiyan, Mohammad Shaheen Sarwar Bhuiyan, and M. Mahbub Alam, alongside representatives from prominent organisations including Nagad, Bangladesh Bank, and the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU).
During the workshop, discussions heavily centred on corporate responsibility and compliance within the mobile financial services sector. Highlighting the organisation's ongoing commitment to financial security and regulatory compliance, Md. Motasim Billah stated, "We are trying to prevent any financial crime with all our might and we have achieved success in almost all cases."
The comprehensive session also addressed broader societal and legal challenges related to financial crimes, particularly illegal gambling activities. It was formally noted during the proceedings that the government is working with extreme sincerity to prevent all forms of gambling within the country.
Adding further context to the government's legislative efforts against illicit financial activities, Kamrul Hasan Azad shared significant regulatory updates during the workshop. He noted, "A law has been passed last July to prevent gambling, which is extremely effective and timely."
Through such collaborative workshops involving regulatory bodies like the BFIU and Bangladesh Bank, Nagad continues to reinforce its operational frameworks. The event successfully underscored the collective dedication required from both financial institutions and their distributors to combat money laundering and safeguard the broader financial ecosystem.
