Member of Parliament Sansila Jebrin has expressed strong indignation and deep concern regarding the alarming presence of food adulteration and microplastics in the market. The prominent lawmaker raised these critical public health and safety issues during a session at the national parliament in Dhaka.

Addressing the legislature on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, Sansila Jebrin formally spoke on a notice of attention concerning matters of urgent public importance. Her parliamentary intervention was conducted in strict accordance with Rule 71 of the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament, drawing immediate legislative focus to the widespread contamination of consumable goods.

Highlighting the daily plight of average consumers, the parliamentarian articulated the pervasive sense of vulnerability citizens face when purchasing provisions. She underscored that while shoppers meticulously examine outer packaging, check pricing labels, and verify expiration dates, the actual safety of the contents remains dangerously unverified.

Elaborating on this severe dilemma from the floor of the national parliament, Sansila Jebrin delivered a stark assessment of the current state of consumer protection. She stated, "We buy food from the market, but we cannot buy safety. We look at the packaging, we see the price, we check the expiration date, but we do not see the poison hidden inside the food. And that is the biggest concern."

The urgent address by the lawmaker has brought renewed parliamentary attention to the invisible threats posed by chemical adulterants and microplastics infiltrating the food supply chain. By formally presenting this critical matter under Rule 71, she has underscored the pressing need for comprehensive regulatory measures to safeguard public health and ensure genuine food security across the nation.
