Mother Dies After Son Attacks Her With Wooden Stick in Pirojpur

A tragic incident in the southern region of Bangladesh has left a community in shock after a domestic dispute escalated into fatal violence. The event took place inside a residential home located in Shialkathi village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Shialkathi union in Kaukhali upazila of Pirojpur district.

According to the verified details of the case, the altercation erupted late at night on Sunday around 12:00 AM. The argument between the mother and her son centered around a domestic matter concerning the cooking of rice. During the heated exchange, the situation deteriorated rapidly when the son, identified as Sujan Bala, physically assaulted his mother, Kanan Bala, using a wooden stick referred to as a dasha.

The physical blow inflicted severe injuries upon Kanan Bala. As her condition deteriorated following the midnight attack, arrangements were made the following morning to seek urgent medical intervention. Around 6:00 AM on Monday, family members and concerned individuals rushed her to the local Kaukhali Upazila Health Complex for initial treatment.

Recognizing the severity of her injuries, medical personnel at the health complex directed that she be transferred to a larger facility for advanced care. Kanan Bala was subsequently transported to the Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barishal. Despite the medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival, passing away at approximately 9:30 AM on Monday.

Following the death of Kanan Bala, legal steps were swiftly initiated by the grieving family. The victim's brother, Prodip Mistri Bulu, formally lodged a murder case as the plaintiff at the local Kaukhali Police Station. Acting on the complaint, law enforcement authorities apprehended Sujan Bala in connection with the attack and subsequently forwarded him to the court.
