In a recent development reported on August 24, 2026, law enforcement authorities in the Chandpur district successfully apprehended a mother and her son on serious drug-related charges. The operation, which took place within the jurisdiction of Faridganj police station, resulted in the immediate seizure of a significant quantity of illicit narcotics that authorities recovered directly from the suspects' possession.

According to the verified official reports, the individuals taken into custody during this targeted law enforcement action have been identified as forty-one-year-old Abdul Mannan, who is also locally known by his alias Ashik, and his sixty-year-old mother, Chemon Khatun. Both family members were caught red-handed by the authorities while allegedly being in possession of the illegal contraband during the special anti-narcotics operation.

Providing further details regarding the scale of the seizure, investigators confirmed that a total of two thousand pieces of Yaba tablets were recovered during the raid. The presence of such a large consignment of the synthetic drug highlights ongoing efforts by local law enforcement agencies to crack down on narcotics trafficking and distribution networks operating within the Faridganj area of Chandpur.

Following their apprehension at the scene, legal proceedings were promptly initiated against the two suspects by the local police administration. A formal case was filed against both Abdul Mannan alias Ashik and Chemon Khatun under the strict provisions of the existing narcotics control act, ensuring that the legal framework was fully applied to the gravity of the offense.

Mohammad Ershad Ullah, speaking on behalf of the authorities regarding the operation and its immediate aftermath, detailed the official actions taken following the arrests. He stated that after carrying out the special anti-narcotics drive that led to the capture of the mother and son with the two thousand Yaba tablets, the accused individuals were subsequently transferred to jail custody through the directive of the judicial court upon the completion of the filing of the narcotics case.
