A newly formed monsoon depression over the Bay of Bengal is currently impacting weather conditions across large portions of Bangladesh, bringing widespread rain and thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds. According to reports confirmed by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department and Dhaka Post, the meteorological disturbance is directly affecting multiple regions throughout the country as weather patterns shift.

The influence of this active monsoon depression extends across nearly all major administrative divisions within Bangladesh. Specifically, the wet weather and associated thunderstorms are striking the coastal and inland regions of Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, Sylhet, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, and Mymensingh, leaving the majority of the nation under overcast and rainy conditions today.

Meteorologists indicate that this meteorological system will continue to shape weather conditions over the coming days. In addition to the ongoing precipitation and gusty winds, the persistent cloud cover and rain are projected to cause a noticeable drop in temperatures across the affected areas as the regional weather system progresses.

Quantifiable changes in the weather are already being recorded by forecasters monitoring the situation. Today, daytime temperatures across the country are anticipated to decrease by one to two degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, nighttime temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged despite the shifting atmospheric conditions brought by the depression.

Authorities and weather monitors continue to observe the trajectory and intensity of the monsoon depression as it persists over the Bay of Bengal. Residents in the impacted divisions of Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, Sylhet, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, and Mymensingh are experiencing the direct effects of the gusty winds and precipitation as the system remains active.
