The production of fake and adulterated milk has raised serious concerns in various areas across Pabna and Sirajganj, where unscrupulous operators have been manufacturing the counterfeit product using a mixture of soda, soybean oil, sugar, salt, water, and various other unauthorized ingredients.

To combat this illicit trade, mobile court operations have been actively deployed in the region. Recent enforcement actions included specific drives in Demra Bazar, located within the Faridpur upazila of Pabna, where authorities successfully seized and subsequently destroyed quantities of the adulterated milk.

Further intensifying the crackdown, another major mobile court drive was conducted in Chatmohar on August 26. During this targeted operation, around 300 liters of fake milk were seized by the authorities as part of ongoing efforts to curb the distribution of unsafe dairy products.

The broader government and regulatory response to the crisis involves multiple agencies, including the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority, BSTI, the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection, and the Department of Livestock Services, alongside reporting by Prothom Alo.

The crackdown has yielded notable legal consequences over the past year. Authorities confirmed that at least 12 individuals have been sentenced to jail terms or subjected to financial fines across Faridpur and Pabna for their involvement in the production of fake milk.
