Mental Health Workshop Held at JKKNIU to Address Device Addiction

A significant workshop focusing on mental health protection was officially held at Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University on December 2, 2023. The academic campus served as the venue for this gathering, which addressed growing concerns surrounding psychological well-being among students and youth in the region.
The collaborative event was jointly organized by Prothom Alo Trust alongside the Prothom Alo Bondhushava National Management Committee, with active cooperation from Unimed Unihealth Pharmaceuticals. This partnership brought together institutional resources to support public awareness regarding mental health issues and wellness strategies.
Expert advice and consultations during the workshop were provided by distinguished specialists Dr. Sajib Abedin and Mahmuda Mohsina Bushra. Both speakers shared their professional insights with the attendees, focusing on the psychological challenges faced by individuals in contemporary society and offering practical coping mechanisms.
Highlighting the severity of modern behavioral patterns, Dr. Sajib Abedin addressed the audience with a stark warning regarding digital consumption. He stated that much like drug addiction, the excessive use of the internet and various electronic devices has transformed into a severe form of addiction among people.
Expanding on the consequences of this digital overreliance, Dr. Sajib Abedin further explained that the excessive use of such machinery disrupts people's normal lifestyles. Consequently, a significant number of individuals are falling victim to various mental illnesses as a direct result of these modern habits.
