Malaysia Rejects Bangladesh State Minister's Claim on Worker Recruitment

The Malaysian government has formally rejected a claim made by Bangladesh State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam concerning the recruitment of Bangladeshi workers. The state minister had previously asserted that Malaysia would begin taking two hundred thousand workers from Bangladesh starting in late September, with the entire process scheduled to conclude within the next six months.

In response to these developments, Malaysian government spokesperson Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil publicly refuted the claims made by the Bangladeshi state minister. According to the spokesperson, the Malaysian Human Resources Minister confirmed that the statements regarding the large-scale worker recruitment do not reflect any official decision made by the authorities in Dhaka.

Highlighting the diplomatic stance of Kuala Lumpur, Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil explicitly clarified the situation during his remarks on the matter. The spokesperson stated, "This does not represent any formal decision of the Bangladesh government. The Human Resources Minister has informed me of this. Therefore, this is not an official position."

The rejection of the state minister's timeline brings uncertainty to the reported influx of two hundred thousand laborers over a six-month period. With the Malaysian government clarifying that no such formal agreement or official stance exists, the future procedures for migrant worker recruitment between the two nations remain subject to official diplomatic channels.
