Law Minister: No Obstacles to Religious Freedom in Bangladesh

Law Minister Md. Asaduzzaman stated that people of all religions are peacefully practicing their faiths. He made the remarks during a Janmashtami celebration in Jhenaidah.

People of all religions in the country are currently practicing their respective religions peacefully, securely, and without any fear. This assertion was made by Law Minister Md. Asaduzzaman while addressing an official gathering on the occasion of Janmashtami.

The religious and cultural event took place on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 10 AM. The celebrations were hosted at the Mathbari Temple, located in Shailkupa within the Jhenaidah district.

Addressing the gathering, Law Minister Md. Asaduzzaman explicitly warned that there will be absolutely no opportunity for any kind of obstruction, hurdles, or hooliganism regarding the observance of religious practices or rituals. He emphasized a zero-tolerance approach toward interference in religious freedom.

The Law Minister further stated that anyone found engaging in such disruptive activities or obstruction will be brought under the purview of the law immediately upon receipt of information.

Several notable local administration and law enforcement officials were present alongside the Law Minister during the celebration at the Mathbari Temple. Among the attendees were Deputy Commissioner Md. Noman Hossain and Police Super Mia Mohammad Ashis Bin Hasan.

The Janmashtami event at the Mathbari Temple in Shailkupa, Jhenaidah, brought together community members and local leadership to mark the occasion under the watchful presence of district authorities.
