Jhenaidah School Playground Turned Into Jute-Steeping Pit Raises Safety Fears

A government primary school playground located in Jhenaidah district has been transformed into a hazardous water-filled pit, raising serious safety concerns for the children who attend the institution daily. The situation at the school has deteriorated as local residents have utilized a large portion of the school's playground to steep jute, effectively converting the recreational area into a stagnant body of water.

The affected institution, known as Kasaritola Government Primary School, is situated within the 7 number Raghunathpur Union of Harinakundu Upazila. According to the confirmed administrative details of the school, the facility currently accommodates a total of ninety students who are enrolled for their foundational education.

Operating within this challenging environment is a dedicated faculty consisting of six teachers. Both the teaching staff and the concerned parents of the enrolled children are now living in constant anxiety regarding the physical safety and well-being of the students due to the presence of the water-filled pit directly on the school grounds.

Voicing the widespread apprehension among families, a local individual named Pintu Ali highlighted the acute seasonal danger posed by the water body. He stated that worries escalate significantly whenever the rainy season arrives, admitting that parents feel terrified to send their sons and daughters to school under such perilous conditions.

Emphasizing the urgent necessity for immediate preventative action, Pintu Ali further demanded that authorities address the crisis before any unfortunate incident occurs. He stressed that it is extremely crucial to either fill up the pit and make the playground suitable for student sports or construct a protective security fence all around the perimeter of the dangerous water body.
