Khulna Youth Dies After Mass Beating Over Alleged Child Abduction Attempt
A man accused of attempting to abduct a child has died from injuries sustained in a mass beating by locals in Khulna. Police have detained two individuals in connection with the incident.
A tragic incident unfolded in the Raimahal area under the jurisdiction of Aarongghata Police Station in Khulna, where a young man lost his life following a severe mass beating by local residents. The deceased has been identified as Raju Biswas, who had arrived at the scene earlier in the day alongside two other individuals on a motorcycle. According to the confirmed details of the event, the confrontation began when Raju Biswas allegedly attempted to pick up a local child into his arms, prompting immediate suspicion and alarm among the people present in the neighborhood.
As the situation escalated rapidly, local residents apprehended Raju Biswas and subjected him to a violent mass beating. Meanwhile, the two other individuals who had accompanied him on the motorcycle managed to flee the scene before they could be intercepted by the angry crowd. The violent confrontation left Raju Biswas with severe and critical injuries, rendering him unable to defend himself as the locals administered the vigilante justice.
Upon receiving information about the unfolding situation, law enforcement personnel from the local police station rushed to the Raimahal area to intervene. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sohag of the police force detailed the immediate aftermath of the intervention, stating, "The youth was rescued in a critically injured condition due to the mass beating by locals and was admitted to the hospital for treatment. Later, after he died at the hospital, family members were informed and they arrived at the hospital."
The injured man was transported urgently to the Khulna Medical College Hospital in an attempt to save his life. Despite medical intervention, Raju Biswas succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment, passing away at approximately 6:15 p.m. at the hospital facility. Following his death, hospital authorities and police facilitated the notification of the victim's grieving family members, who subsequently arrived at the medical establishment.
In the wake of the fatal incident, the local police administration has launched a comprehensive investigation to uncover all surrounding circumstances. Inspector (Investigation) Monirul Islam commented on the ongoing law enforcement response, affirming, "The police are conducting investigative activities by examining the entire matter with great importance." Authorities have also confirmed that two individuals have been detained in connection with the sequence of events that led to the tragic death.
