International Islamic Book Fair Opens in Dhaka

A month-long international Islamic book fair has officially commenced at the east and south courtyards of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka. The inauguration ceremony took place on September 12, 2026, marking the beginning of a significant cultural and literary gathering for Islamic literature enthusiasts in the region.

Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain (Kaykobad) formally inaugurated the book fair as the chief guest. The event is organized with the involvement of key religious bodies, including the Islamic Foundation and the Ministry of Religious Affairs, highlighting the official backing and importance of the exhibition.

Organizers have confirmed that a total of 206 institutions are participating in this year's sprawling month-long exhibition. To accommodate the massive influx of publishers, booksellers, and visitors, a total of 144 stalls have been set up across the designated venue areas at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque complex.

The international scope of the fair is underscored by the presence of prominent foreign publishing houses. Specifically, seven international publishing institutions from countries including Egypt, Lebanon, Pakistan, and India have travelled to Dhaka to showcase their publications alongside domestic participants.

For members of the public wishing to attend, the fair organizers have established a consistent daily schedule. The month-long literary event will remain open to visitors every single day starting from 11:00 AM in the morning and running continuously until 10:00 PM at night.

The grand Islamic book fair is scheduled to run for an entire month, officially concluding on October 11, 2026. Authorities and organizers anticipate high public engagement throughout the duration, providing a unique platform for readers to explore a diverse array of Islamic texts and international literature.
