Inside Putin’s Aurus Senat: Russia’s Bulletproof Presidential Limo

Russian President Vladimir Putin's heavily armored state vehicle, the Aurus Senat, stands as one of the most secure automobiles in the world. Operating as a bulletproof and explosion-resistant limousine, this high-security transport vehicle has captured global attention for its advanced defensive capabilities and imposing design.

The luxury vehicle is manufactured by Russian carmaker Aurus Motors. Its development falls under the Kortez project, a specialized state initiative designed to produce luxurious and armored vehicles specifically tailored for official Russian government use and high-ranking state duties.

Underneath its heavily fortified exterior, the vehicle is powered by a robust 4.4-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine. This powerhouse generates an impressive 598 horsepower alongside 880 Newton meters of torque, managed efficiently by a 9-speed automatic gearbox that delivers commanding performance on the road.

In terms of physical dimensions, the Senat commands a significant road presence with a length of 5,630 millimeters, a width of 2,000 millimeters, and a height of 1,700 millimeters. First introduced to the market in 2018 in Russia, the vehicle balances massive proportions with elite engineering standards.

Production of the elite limousine remains strictly limited, with the manufacturing facilities achieving a maximum output of only 120 cars per year. As a reflection of its exclusivity, advanced security architecture, and luxury craftsmanship, the vehicle carries a market price of approximately 18 million rubles, equivalent to 26.4 million taka.

The manufacturing ecosystem behind the Senat involves several key organizations, including NAMI, Sollers JSC, and Tawazun Holding. Furthermore, the vehicle has been showcased on international stages, including events associated with the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), where notable figures such as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have observed it.
