Xi Jinping Meets Narendra Modi in India After Seven Years

Chinese President Xi Jinping has arrived in India for a high-profile visit, marking his first trip to the country in seven years. During this significant diplomatic engagement, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a formal bilateral meeting to discuss a wide range of issues concerning bilateral relations between the two Asian giants.

The extensive discussions between the two leaders covered critical topics including the border situation, trade, and investment. A central focus of the meeting was the situation surrounding the Line of Actual Control (LAC), which has been a prominent point of strategic discussion between the neighboring nations over the course of several years.

Reflecting on the history of their diplomatic engagements, President Xi Jinping noted that over the past few years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and he have held a total of 21 meetings. President Xi emphasized that during these successive meetings, both leaders have successfully reached consensus on various important issues, which has effectively guided India-China relations onto a path of stable development.

Addressing the broader geopolitical landscape, the Chinese President stated that even though the national conditions of the two countries are different, they can still learn from each other's strengths, engage in cooperation, and advance together toward common development. President Xi further remarked that as the world's two most populous nations and important members of the Global South, India and China bear significant responsibilities and must play a more positive role in promoting world peace, stability, development, and prosperity.

In addition to these strategic discussions, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his appreciation to China for its cooperation during India's presidency of the BRICS grouping. The bilateral meeting underscored the ongoing diplomatic efforts between Beijing and New Delhi to navigate complex regional and international dynamics while addressing shared concerns.
