Health Minister Slams Adani Power Over Supply Cuts in Manikganj

Sakhawat Hossain Bakul has publicly accused Indian energy provider Adani Power of manipulating electricity supplies to engineer artificial shortages in the country. Speaking at a high-level coordination meeting held at the conference room of the Manikganj Deputy Commissioner's office, the minister detailed what he described as erratic and unreliable power distribution practices by the company.
Addressing the assembly, which brought together local administrative officials and regional representatives, Minister Bakul specifically targeted Adani Power's inconsistent generation patterns. He stated that the company has been 'playing games' with Bangladesh regarding power distribution, deliberately curtailing electricity deliveries to destabilize the grid and manufacture a supply crisis.
Elaborating on the erratic supply schedule, the minister highlighted the unpredictable nature of the power transfers from the company. He pointed out stark daily fluctuations, noting that the provider might supply 100 megawatts of electricity on one day, only to slash the volume down to a mere 50 megawatts on the very next day.
The crucial coordination meeting at the Manikganj Deputy Commissioner's office served as a platform to review ongoing law and order, developmental, and public welfare initiatives within the district. Prominent local figures in attendance included Afroza Khanam Rita, SA Jinnah Kabir, and Moynul Islam Khan Shanto, alongside various senior government administrators.
The discussions at the district headquarters underscored broader national concerns regarding infrastructural management, public health, and utility services. As the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare continues to navigate administrative challenges—including managing a vast population of 18 crore citizens alongside a strained healthcare ratio where there is only one doctor for every 11,000 people—reliable utility inputs remain vital for institutional operations.
