Bangladesh Food Minister Inspects Warehouse in Manikganj

Food Minister Afroza Khanam Rita conducted an official inspection of the Manikganj Sadar Upazila food warehouse on Sunday, August 30, 2026. The high-level visit to the facility in Manikganj, Bangladesh, was carried out by the minister representing the Ministry of Food to review current operational protocols and inventory levels.

During her inspection of the storage facilities, the Food Minister emphasized the critical importance of preparedness in the face of potential emergencies. Speaking to officials at the site, Minister Afroza Khanam Rita noted that any disaster situation could arise at any time, underlining the necessity of robust preparation. She specifically stated, 'Disaster situations can arise at any time. We are arranging our stocking system so that we can handle it then.'

Addressing the broader national strategy for food security, the minister assured the public that reserves are currently stable across the entire country. Minister Afroza Khanam Rita further stated, 'Adequate amounts of food are stocked in every district of the country. Whatever we have, including paddy, rice, and wheat, we will be able to supply them properly to the general public.'

The official visit to the Sadar Upazila warehouse also follows recent administrative scrutiny within the region regarding food storage facilities. Authorities confirmed that legal action was taken against those involved after irregularities were found recently at the Ghior Upazila food warehouse, also located within the Manikganj district.

The Ministry of Food continues to oversee regional facilities to ensure accountability and maintain sufficient supplies for citizens nationwide. Through ongoing inspections and localized oversight, the government aims to guarantee that public distribution systems remain operational and fully capable of responding to future distribution needs and emergency scenarios.
