Gunmen and Explosions Wound Three in Noakhali
Armed attackers opened indiscriminate fire and exploded cocktails in Noakhali's Begumganj upazila last night. The violent incident left a schoolteacher and two other individuals with gunshot injuries.
A violent incident involving indiscriminate gunfire and cocktail explosions shook the Banglabazar area under Zirtoli union in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali district last night at approximately 10:00 PM. According to verified reports, a group consisting of ten to twelve armed criminals carried out the sudden attack, creating widespread panic and chaos among local residents and business owners in the commercial locality.
The armed assault resulted in three people sustaining gunshot injuries. Among the victims are a secondary school assistant head teacher, a shop employee, and another young man from the area. The confirmed victims have been identified as 56-year-old Rajibuzzaman, who serves as an assistant head teacher at Shamsunnahar High School, 17-year-old shop employee Md. Shakib, and 18-year-old Mohammad Nazim Uddin.
Following the sudden armed attack and explosions at Banglabazar, the wounded individuals were swiftly rushed for urgent medical treatment. While the exact condition of the schoolteacher remains part of the developing situation, the injured shop employee Shakib and young man Nazim Uddin were transferred directly to a major regional medical facility for specialized care.
Medical authorities at the regional hospital confirmed the admission of the injured youths in the early hours following the incident. Rajib Uddin Chowdhury, speaking about the casualties, stated that around 1:00 AM last night, two individuals named Shakib and Nazim arrived at the hospital suffering from pellet gun injuries sustained during the Begumganj upazila incident, and they were subsequently admitted for treatment.
Local law enforcement authorities from the Begumganj police station have been notified of the armed assault and explosions at Zirtoli union's Banglabazar. Investigations into the late-night shooting involving the group of ten to twelve armed perpetrators are currently underway as officials work to establish the full sequence of events and apprehend those responsible for the violence.
