Gold Trader Murdered and Robbed in Naogaon

A 45-year-old gold trader in Naogaon's Mahadevpur has died following a violent attack while returning home from his shop. Perpetrators made off with six bhoris of gold and seven lakh taka in cash.

A 45-year-old gold trader named Olif Chandra Dutta was attacked, robbed and killed while returning home from his shop in the Dulalpara area of Mahadevpur, Naogaon. The incident took place on the night of September 7 at approximately 9:00 PM, as the victim was closing his business establishment for the evening and heading back to his residence.

According to the verified accounts of the incident, unidentified perpetrators targeted Olif Chandra Dutta along his commute and struck him on the head with sharp weapons. The violent assault left the trader critically injured, prompting family members and local residents to rush to the scene and initiate immediate rescue efforts.

The victims supporters initially transported him to the Mahadevpur Upazila Health Complex for emergency medical attention. Due to the severity of his head injuries, he was subsequently transferred to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH), where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

During the attack, the assailants looted valuable assets belonging to the victim. According to confirmed reports, the criminals snatched six bhoris of gold alongside seven lakh taka in cash that the trader was carrying with him at the time of the robbery.

Local law enforcement authorities, specifically the Mahadevpur Police, have launched an active investigation into the homicide and robbery. Omar Faruk, representing the authorities, stated that the police are working to uncover the mystery behind the killing, identify those involved, and apprehend the culprits, adding that legal action is currently being processed regarding the incident.

Authorities have noted that investigations are still ongoing to determine the exact nature and motive behind the violent assault. Omar Faruk confirmed that it remains unclear whether the incident was strictly a targeted robbery or if there was any underlying personal enmity or alternative motivation behind the crime.
