Faridpur Juvenile Court Sentences Two Youths Over Auto-Van Driver Murder
A juvenile court in Faridpur has delivered a verdict in the murder case of auto-van driver Harun Or Rashid. The victim had gone missing after leaving his home with his vehicle in February 2024.
On Monday at approximately 2:00 PM, judge Shamima Parveen of the Faridpur District Juvenile Court delivered the verdict in the high-profile murder case involving auto-judicial proceedings. The legal case centered on the tragic death of Harun Or Rashid, who made his living working as an auto-van driver to support himself and his daily livelihood.
Before the tragic events unfolded that led to the court proceedings, the victim resided at the Dulardangi Ashrayan Project located under the Ramnagar Union within the jurisdiction of Nagarkanda Upazila. As part of his daily routine to earn a living, the auto-van driver departed from his residential home along with his vehicle during the afternoon hours of 16 February 2024, after which he did not return and remained officially missing.
Following his mysterious disappearance, frantic searches eventually led to a grim discovery on the following day. On 17 February 2024, law enforcement and local residents located the lifeless body of Harun Or Rashid inside a mahogany orchard situated in the Signboard area under the Aliabad Union of Faridpur Sadar Upazila.
Subsequent investigations by the local authorities, specifically involving the Kotwali Thana Police, pieced together the circumstances surrounding the violent death of the vulnerable transport worker. The investigation eventually resulted in charges being brought against two youths, whose case was tried before the Faridpur District Juvenile Court.
In the culmination of the judicial process regarding the 2024 murder, judge Shamima Parveen officially announced the court's judgment on Monday afternoon. The ruling brings a legal conclusion to the case that began with the disappearance of the Nagarkanda Upazila resident and the subsequent grim discovery of his body in the Faridpur Sadar Upazila mahogany orchard.
