DU Hall Forms Probe Committee After Students Accused of Smoking Cannabis
Dhaka University's Sir A. F. Rahman Hall administration has formed a three-member probe committee after five students were initially identified for allegedly smoking cannabis on the rooftop. Hall authorities have collected CCTV footage and other evidence from the scene as investigations continue.
An investigation has been launched at Dhaka University after a group of students was accused of smoking cannabis on the rooftop of the Sir A. F. Rahman Hall. The incident, which has drawn the attention of the university administration, took place on the first of September at the residential hall located on the Dhaka University campus in Dhaka.
Following the allegations, the hall administration has taken swift action by forming a dedicated three-member investigation committee to look into the matter thoroughly. Professor Kazi Mahfuzul Huq Supon addressed the formation of the panel, stating that a committee has been established to investigate the incident. He further confirmed that formal disciplinary actions will be implemented based entirely on the findings and recommendations submitted in the committee's final report.
Authorities have already begun gathering crucial physical and digital evidence from the location of the incident to ensure a comprehensive probe. Mo. Roni Mridha provided details regarding the ongoing evidence collection process, explaining that CCTV footage and various other pieces of physical evidence have been successfully gathered from the exact scene of the occurrence and taken into official custody by the authorities.
Through the initial analysis of the recovered materials and surveillance footage, investigators have managed to pinpoint individuals allegedly involved in the incident. Mo. Roni Mridha noted that five students have been primarily identified in connection with the rooftop cannabis consumption allegations so far. These specific individuals will undergo formal questioning by the administration.
The final administrative and disciplinary decisions regarding the accused individuals will be determined only after a complete review is concluded. Mo. Roni Mridha elaborated that the next steps and ultimate decisions will be made following the thorough interrogation of the identified students, alongside a detailed analysis of the collected CCTV footage and all other available evidence.
