DSCC Administrator Orders Action Against Absent Staff and Leads Eviction Drive
Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Md. Abdus Salam conducted a surprise inspection at the Region-5 office on Tuesday. During the visit, he ordered strict action against absent employees and led a footpath eviction drive in Motijheel and Shahjahanpur.
On Tuesday, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator Md. Abdus Salam carried out a surprise inspection at the corporation's regional office-5, focusing on administrative discipline and attendance. Upon arriving at the facility, the administrator immediately ordered the main gate of the regional office to be shut down to prevent staff from leaving or entering during the unexpected audit.
During the surprise visit, a thorough inspection of the attendance registry was conducted under the direct supervision of the administrator. The verification process revealed that approximately 25 percent of the officers and staff members were absent from their designated workstations during official working hours, highlighting a significant rate of absenteeism within the municipal office.
Expressing strong displeasure over the approximately one-quarter of personnel missing from their duties, Administrator Md. Abdus Salam issued strict directives to initiate formal disciplinary proceedings. He instructed the relevant authorities to take appropriate punitive measures against all the absent officers and staff members in strict accordance with the established service rules of the corporation.
Addressing the presence of municipal staff and local officials during the inspection, Administrator Abdus Salam delivered a stern warning regarding administrative accountability and public service delivery. He stated that no form of negligence or apathy in providing citizen services would be tolerated under any circumstances, emphasizing that strict action would be taken against wrongdoers.
The administrator further warned that accountability would be strictly enforced regardless of affiliation, stating that neither the corporation's own employees nor any external parties would be spared if they caused public suffering. He asserted that authorities are fully committed to ensuring smooth operations and public welfare across the jurisdiction without compromise.
Following the office inspection, the administrator's activities extended directly into the field within the designated areas of Motijheel and Shahjahanpur. Administrator Md. Abdus Salam personally led a rigorous eviction drive aimed at clearing unauthorized structures and reclaiming public spaces, specifically targeting the occupied footpaths along the route from Motijheel's Pir Jangi Mazar up to Bangabhaban.
