DMP Regular Drive Leads to 506 Arrests Across Dhaka
Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested 506 individuals across the capital during a regular 24-hour operation. Law enforcement officers also recovered various narcotics, weapons, and vehicles during the crackdown.
In a series of coordinated operations across the capital, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 506 individuals during their regular anti-crime drives. The comprehensive security sweeps and law enforcement actions, which spanned the entirety of Dhaka, were carried out over a continuous twenty-four-hour period to maintain public order and combat criminal activities.
Following these sweeping arrests, authorities confirmed that a total of 55 distinct cases were officially filed at various police stations throughout the metropolitan area. The legal proceedings have been initiated against the detained suspects as investigations continue into the various offenses recorded across the capital's multiple policing jurisdictions.
During the course of these extensive operations, security personnel successfully recovered a significant quantity of illicit items and contraband substances. The confiscated materials included two switchblade-style weapons, 27 kilograms and 510 grams of cannabis (ganja), 231 pieces of yaba tablets, and five grams of heroin.
In addition to the narcotics and weapons seizures, law enforcement agencies targeted and impounded several modes of transport used in connection with criminal activities or operations. The seized vehicles and items comprise one bus belonging to the Ena transport service, one truck, 17 motorcycles, and eight mobile phones.
The concerted crackdown underscores the ongoing efforts by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police to curb crime and secure the metropolitan area.
