Nazmul finds self-reliance selling muri makha in Dhaka's Mirpur
Passing his HSC in 2023, Nazmul moved from Barishal to Dhaka and now runs a thriving street-food business beneath the Mirpur 11 Metro Station. By selling spiced puffed rice, he now earns a substantial monthly income and employs two other people.

In 2023, after successfully passing his Higher Secondary Certificate examinations, a young man named Nazmul made the significant decision to leave Barishal and move to the bustling capital city of Dhaka in search of a livelihood. Facing the challenges of a new environment, he embarked on an entrepreneurial journey that would transform his life and lead him toward complete self-reliance through hard work and dedication.
Today, Nazmul operates a street-side food venture located specifically underneath the Mirpur 11 Metro Station in Dhaka. Utilizing a mobile van, he specializes in preparing and selling muri makha, a popular local spiced puffed rice dish, which has steadily attracted a loyal customer base from evening until 11 o'clock at night when his stall remains open for business.
The daily operations of the stall demonstrate impressive productivity and consistent demand within the busy urban area. On an average day, Nazmul successfully sells between 50 and 60 plates of muri makha, generating daily sales revenue that typically ranges from three to four thousand taka. The pricing for these plates varies depending on the ingredients and customer preference, starting at 30 taka and ranging up to 50, 60, and even reaching 100 taka per plate.
Reflecting on the fluctuating nature of the street-food trade, Nazmul shared his perspective on building a commercial enterprise from the ground up. He explained that whether a business is considered small or large, reaching a stable stage takes time, noting that sales are never strictly fixed. Some days his total sales reach six thousand taka, while on other occasions the figures experience a slight decrease.
Beyond achieving personal financial stability—with his monthly earnings currently reaching approximately one to one and a half lakh taka—Nazmul has also contributed to his local community. His growing enterprise has successfully created employment opportunities for two additional people who now work alongside him at the van.
Looking toward the future, the young entrepreneur remains focused on maintaining high standards and building strong connections with his clientele. Outlining his primary ambitions, Nazmul stated that he is concentrating on maintaining the quality of his business and earning the love of his customers, with his ultimate goal being to expand and significantly grow the shop.
