Dhaka Metro Rail Resumes Normal Operations After Brief Suspension
Metro rail services in Dhaka were temporarily halted on September 15 due to an obstruction on the tracks. Operations on both routes resumed shortly after safety checks were completed.
Metro rail services in Dhaka experienced a temporary suspension on the afternoon of September 15, causing a brief disruption for commuters travelling on the mass rapid transit system.
According to official information, the disruption began at approximately 4:36 PM. During the period leading up to the halt, trains had been operating specifically from Uttara to Karwan Bazar and other sections of the network.
The cause of the stoppage was identified as a piece of fabric that had somehow landed on the tracks. Authorities had to take immediate action to clear the foreign object from the railway line to ensure the safety of the rolling stock and passengers.
Once the fabric was successfully removed from the line, technical personnel conducted necessary inspections. Speaking on the matter, Nazrul Islam, the Director of Operation and Maintenance at the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), provided confirmation regarding the operational steps taken.
Nazrul Islam stated, "After the fabric was removed from the line, the mechanical aspects of the line were checked." Following the completion of these mandatory mechanical and safety checks, normal operations were able to resume.
By 5:15 PM on the same day, train movement across both routes returned completely to normal schedules, according to the confirmed reports published by The Daily Star.
