Dhaka College Hosts 5th DCDS National Debate Championship 2026
The 5th DCDS National Debate Championship concluded at Dhaka College with 48 teams competing across multiple levels. State Minister for Planning Junaid Saki attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest.
The Dhaka College Debating Society (DCDS) successfully hosted the 5th DCDS National Debate Championship on August 20, 2026, at the historic Dhaka College campus. The prestigious academic event brought together talented debaters from various institutions across the country, creating a vibrant atmosphere of intellectual exchange and spirited competition.
A total of 48 debate teams participated in the tournament, showcasing exceptional argumentation and critical thinking skills across university, college, and school categories. The high level of participation underscored the growing popularity and academic rigor of competitive debating among young students in Bangladesh.
In the fiercely contested university-level segment, Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) emerged victorious by defeating Jahangirnagar University to claim the championship title. Meanwhile, the college-level competition witnessed host institution Dhaka College fall to Notre Dame College, which secured the top spot in that division.
In the school-level category, Birshreshtha Munshi Abdur Rouf Public College triumphed after outperforming Banasree Ideal School and College to capture the championship trophy. These hard-fought victories highlighted the depth of talent and dedication present at all educational levels within the national debating circuit.
The grand event concluded with a formal closing and prize-distribution ceremony, which featured State Minister for Planning Junaid Saki as the esteemed chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, Azizur Rahman Pappel remarked that the gathering had transformed into a grand festival of intellect through the active participation of brilliant debaters hailing from diverse regions of the country.
