Cox's Bazar Sees Weekend Tourism Surge Amid Safety Alerts
Cox's Bazar sea beach experiences a significant increase in tourist numbers on Friday, drawing crowds to major coastal points. Lifeguards and local authorities have stepped up safety measures and monitoring to manage the influx.
On Friday, the coastal destination of Cox's Bazar witnessed a notable rise in tourist arrivals as visitors flocked to the area for the weekly holiday. The influx of travellers was particularly visible across several prominent locations along the coastline, drawing numerous holidaymakers seeking to enjoy the coastal scenery and ocean views.
Large gatherings of tourists were specifically observed at the Kolatoli, Sugandha, and Laboni points of the beach. These popular areas experienced heightened activity as visitors moved along the shorelines, contributing to a vibrant atmosphere throughout the primary tourist zones of the district during the weekend.
Due to rough conditions and significant waves in the sea, authorities and safety personnel have implemented precautionary measures. Lifeguards are actively raising red flags to warn visitors and restrict unsafe swimming in the ocean, urging caution amid the hazardous coastal conditions.
Saifullah Sifat, a representative of the Sea Safe Lifeguard Organization, commented on the situation regarding visitor compliance and ongoing operations. "We lifeguard members are regularly monitoring the situation. Due to the waves in the sea, red flags are being flown to warn people about sea bathing. Some are following the instructions, while others are not. Despite this, we remain alert at the Sugandha, Kolatoli, and Laboni points of the beach," he stated.
Local administration has also intensified efforts to oversee commercial practices and ensure visitor wellbeing during the busy weekend period. Md. Mahmudur Rahman Sayem addressed the administrative priorities and the ongoing oversight measures implemented to protect travellers from exploitation.
"The safety of tourists and good management of the tourism industry are always our highest priority. We are monitoring so that no one can charge extra prices and harass tourists in any way," Md. Mahmudur Rahman Sayem added, emphasizing the commitment of the Cox's Bazar district administration to maintaining order and fair treatment for all visitors.
