Bangladesh Coast Guard has successfully seized one illegal trolling boat alongside eleven trolling nets during a security operation conducted in the upazila of Charfashion, located within the southern district of Bhola. The official operation took place on the night of August 28, 2026, specifically getting underway at 10:00 PM on the Maya River. The enforcement action was carried out by members of the Coast Guard Outpost Lalmohan and units stationed in Charmanika, highlighting ongoing maritime vigilance in the coastal region.

Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon provided detailed official remarks regarding the interception and subsequent identification process. According to the statements, it was later confirmed through the intervention of the upazila fisheries officer that the seized boat originated from India. Authorities have noted that preliminary assessments strongly indicate that certain unscrupulous Bangladeshi individuals had illegally brought the vessel into Bangladeshi territory and were actively making preparations to utilize it for fishing operations.

During the execution of the late-night raid on the Maya River, the individuals aboard the vessel quickly detected the presence of the approaching Coast Guard personnel. Taking advantage of the darkness and river conditions, the fishermen manning the boat managed to escape into the surrounding area before security personnel could secure the immediate vicinity. Consequently, authorities confirmed that it was not possible to apprehend or arrest any individuals during the course of the operation.

Following the successful confiscation of the foreign vessel and illegal fishing equipment, the seized items remain under official custody as investigations continue. Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon further confirmed that the process for executing subsequent legal and administrative measures regarding the seized Indian artisanal trolling boat and the eleven recovered trolling nets is currently underway.
