Citizens' body demands construction of Bhola-Barisal bridge
The citizens' committee 'Amra Volabashi' has demanded the construction of the Bhola-Barisal bridge to establish effective and easy road communication. The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Bhola Press Club.

The citizens' committee known as 'Amra Volabashi' has formally demanded the construction of the Bhola-Barisal bridge to ensure effective and easy road communication for the island district of Bhola and the broader southern region of the country. This significant demand was made public during a press conference organized by the committee at the Bhola Press Club.
The event, which brought together local stakeholders and representatives, saw the participation of several key figures from the organization and the local community. Among those present at the press conference were Mir Mosharraf Omi, Sharif Howlader, Sakhawat Shakil, Mehedi Hasan, Tariq Rahman, and Maidul Islam, who all represented the collective voice of the citizens advocating for regional development.
During the briefing at the Bhola Press Club, the committee officially announced plans to integrate the island district of Bhola into the national road network. This integration is planned to be achieved through the construction of a designated highway along the specific route connecting Rahamatpur, Hizla, Mehendiganj, and Bhola.
To support the overarching infrastructure project and improve connectivity, the proposal outlines several major engineering components. These confirmed plans include the construction of 21 kilometers of new road, the widening of 36 kilometers of existing roadway, and the implementation of three major bridge construction proposals, highlighted by a nearly 10-kilometer-long bridge.
The initiative also involves key government bodies related to infrastructure development in the country. The technical and structural aspects of the proposed transport links are associated with the Roads and Highways Department and the Bangladesh Bridge Authority as part of the broader regional connectivity framework.
