Chittagong Prepares for 11-Party Alliance Long March Rally
Activists have gathered at Laldighi Maidan in Chittagong for the concluding rally of the 11-party alliance's long march. Jamat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman is set to attend as the chief guest, with Col. (Retd.) Oli Ahmed presiding over the event.
Activists and supporters of the 11-party alliance have gathered at the historic Laldighi Maidan in the port city of Chittagong ahead of the alliance's long march concluding rally and cultural event. The venue and its surrounding areas have seen significant activity as participants arrive to take part in the political program scheduled for September 5, 2026.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, the opposition leader and Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, is scheduled to address the mass gathering as the chief guest. Presiding over the high-profile concluding event will be Colonel (Retd.) Oli Ahmed, marking a major political assembly for the 11-party alliance in the region.
The long march itself commenced earlier on Saturday morning. Convoy movements began shortly after 8:15 AM from Shapla Chattar in Motijheel, Dhaka, setting off on the journey toward Chittagong to mobilize supporters along the route before reaching the final destination at Laldighi Maidan.
Ahead of the massive public gathering, security measures were visibly heightened at the venue. Personnel from the Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) and law enforcement agencies deployed specialized units, including a dog squad, to thoroughly search and secure the Laldighi Maidan grounds for the safety of attendees and participants.
