Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni Discusses Bangladesh-India Ties

Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni has spoken out regarding the diplomatic and bilateral ties between Bangladesh and neighboring India, outlining the core principles that will guide foreign policy and international engagement moving forward.

Addressing the relationship between the two nations, Nurul Islam Moni noted that India is a neighboring country and stressed that Bangladesh does not ignore any of its neighbors in the region.

Highlighting the diplomatic approach of the current leadership, the Chief Whip recalled the stance articulated by the Prime Minister, stating that the guiding philosophy of the administration is 'Bangladesh first.'

Elaborating on this priority, Nurul Islam Moni affirmed that the government places the utmost importance on the nation and will forge relationships with any international partner in whatever manner is deemed necessary and appropriate.

Furthermore, the Chief Whip emphasized that the bilateral relationship between India and Bangladesh must be conducted and maintained strictly on the basis of mutual dignity and respect.

Shifting to the topic of fugitive criminals, Nurul Islam Moni addressed the issue of individuals who have fled across the border, stating that many people who carried out oppression, forced disappearances, and killings against the people of the country over the past 16 to 17 years have escaped to India. In light of this situation, he explicitly called upon the Indian authorities to ensure that no shelter or patronage is provided to these alleged criminals.
