Chattogram Records 48 New Dengue Cases in 24 Hours

Health authorities in Chattogram have reported that 48 new individuals have been diagnosed with dengue over the past 24 hours. According to official data released by the civil surgeon's office, this latest surge brings the cumulative total of dengue infections in the district to 1,612 for the current year. Despite the continuous influx of new patients seeking medical attention across the region, health officials confirmed that no fatalities linked to the mosquito-borne disease were reported during this specific 24-hour reporting cycle.

A detailed breakdown of the active hospital admissions across various medical facilities in the region highlights the ongoing pressure on the local healthcare infrastructure. Currently, a total of 144 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at different hospitals throughout Chattogram. Among the primary medical hubs receiving the afflicted individuals, the Chattogram Medical College (CMCH) Hospital is currently treating 15 patients, while the Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID) is managing 18 active cases.

Further distribution of the hospitalized patients reveals additional admissions across specialized and general healthcare centers in the region. The data shows that the Chattogram General Hospital is currently providing care to 12 dengue patients, whereas the Chattogram Maa-o-Shishu Hospital has admitted two individuals. Additionally, local healthcare delivery is being supported by upazila health complexes, which currently account for one of the hospitalized patients receiving medical oversight.

Looking at the broader epidemiological timeline spanning from January 1 through August 22 of this year, the total tally of 1,612 confirmed cases reflects a significant public health challenge. During this nearly eight-month period, government hospitals have collectively identified and treated 1,344 dengue patients, while private hospitals and clinics across the district have recorded an additional 268 cases.

Despite the steady accumulation of positive diagnoses, recovery rates remain a positive indicator within the district's ongoing management of the outbreak. Official statistics released by the authorities indicate that a total of 1,366 patients have successfully recovered from the illness and subsequently received clearance and discharge documents from various hospitals after completing their treatments.
