BGB Seizes 190,000 Yaba Tablets and Arrests Three Suspects in Teknaf

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has successfully conducted a major anti-narcotics operation along the Naf River in Cox's Bazar, resulting in the seizure of a massive consignment of illicit narcotics. During this operation, security personnel detained three suspected drug traffickers who were attempting to smuggle contraband substances across the international border from neighboring Myanmar.

According to the official details released regarding the incident, the interception and subsequent arrests took place on the afternoon of Saturday, August 29. The specific location of the operation was identified as the Sabrang Border Outpost (BOP) area, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Teknaf Battalion, formally designated as the 2 BGB.

During the course of the security sweep and subsequent search operations in the border zone, the vigilant BGB members intercepted the suspects and recovered a substantial quantity of illegal drugs. Authorities confirmed that the total seizure amounted to exactly 190,000 pieces of Yaba tablets, which are a synthetic stimulant commonly trafficked across the region from Myanmar.

In connection with the seizure of the 190,000 Yaba tablets, the border security force apprehended three individuals suspected of direct involvement in the cross-border smuggling ring. The identities of the three detained drug traffickers were officially recorded as Mohammad Jamal Hossain, who is 38 years of age, Mohammad Ismail, aged 24, and Mohammad Emran, aged 25.

The successful operation by the Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB) highlights the ongoing enforcement challenges and security measures implemented along the Naf River boundary. Following their detention at the Sabrang BOP area on Saturday afternoon, the three suspects along with the seized narcotics were subjected to further legal procedures under the existing laws of the country concerning drug trafficking.
