BFF-Samakal National Science Debate Festival 12th Edition Kicks Off

The 12th edition of the BFF-Samakal National Science Debate Festival has officially commenced, bringing together young minds under the inspiring slogan 'Bitorok Manei Jukti, Biggane Mukti' (Debate means reasoning, science brings freedom). This nationwide intellectual competition marks its latest milestone as enthusiastic students from various regions gather to showcase their critical thinking and oratorical skills.

The district-level phase of the festival officially kicked off on September 10, 2026, with vibrant day-long competitions held simultaneously across three distinct areas: Rangpur, Panchagarh, and Narayanganj. These opening rounds set the competitive tone for the expansive tournament, which is scheduled to conclude its district-level stages by October 8.

This major academic initiative is jointly organized by the Bangladesh Freedom Foundation (BFF) and the prominent publication Samakal, with the collaborative support of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC acting as the official associate. The partnership brings together institutional backing to foster a scientific temperament and rigorous debate culture among the upcoming generation.

The extensive nationwide tournament will witness massive participation, drawing in approximately two thousand young debaters. These talented students originate from five hundred and twenty different schools spanning all sixty-four districts of the country, specifically drawing participants from the eighth, ninth, and tenth grades.

Following the conclusion of the rigorous district-level competitions on October 8, the festival will advance toward its highly anticipated conclusion. The grand national final round, alongside the formal closing ceremony, is scheduled to take place over two days on November 13 and November 14, where the ultimate champions of the 12th edition will be crowned.
