Bangladesh Scouts Rover Region Holds 156th Executive Meeting in Dhaka

The Bangladesh Scouts Rover Region recently convened its 156th regional executive committee meeting at the prominent Scouts Bhaban located in Kakrail, Dhaka. The high-profile gathering brought together notable academic leaders and organizational figures to deliberate on the expansion and strategic development of scouting activities across the country. Key participants in attendance included Professor Dr. Khan Moyeenuddin Al Mahmud Sohel, Molla Mahfuz Al-Hossen, Professor Md. Shahidul Islam, Professor AKM Selim Chowdhury, Professor Abdullah Al Mamun Chowdhury, Professor Md. Shahidul Alam, and Professor AZM Rezaul Karim Khan.

The meeting was presided over by Professor Dr. ASM Amanullah, the Vice-Chancellor of the National University. During the session, significant administrative and curricular decisions were advanced, most notably an initiative to integrate a rover scouting course directly into the bachelor's pass and bachelor's honors curricula offered by the National University. This strategic integration aims to foster leadership, discipline, and community service among undergraduate students through structured scouting modules.

Addressing the committee, Professor Dr. ASM Amanullah outlined several visionary directives aimed at elevating the visibility and societal impact of the organization. He announced that scouts will be actively engaged as volunteers in the upcoming 'Prime Minister's Gold Cup'. Emphasizing the need for a heightened public presence, he stressed that 'visible scouting' must be ensured to make scouting activities increasingly apparent within the community, while also exploring ways to integrate scouting with third-language education by involving rover scouts in university language club activities.

Highlighting environmental sustainability, the Chairman revealed an ambitious ecological target during the discussions. 'We will plant two crore trees,' Professor Dr. ASM Amanullah stated, emphasizing the organization's commitment to ecological health. He further elaborated that the initiative extends far beyond initial planting: 'We want to involve scouts in this program. Not only tree plantation, but scouts must also play a responsible role in the care and conservation of the trees.'

Concluding his remarks, Professor Dr. ASM Amanullah underscored the importance of self-reliance and community partnerships in driving organizational progress. He noted that waiting solely on government support is insufficient for comprehensive development. Pointing to public willingness, he observed that many individuals wish to support noble causes but lack appropriate avenues, meaning development initiatives within scouting must actively engage these willing contributors to foster broader collective growth.
